2000 sq ft Slab Material and Cost Estimate

Introduction:

Slab is a very important part of any building, hence it is very important to determine it and estimate its cost beforehand.
This helps us in determining the details and cost of all the materials used in the building and the strength and size of the structure.
It is very important to have accurate information about the budget of slab so that we can control the cost of our project according to our budget and financial status.

Basic Details of the Slab:

In the basic details of the slab, we get information about the following things.
1-Thickness of the slab : 6 Inch
2-Length of the slab : 65’8″
3-Width of the slab : 30’0″
Total area of the slab : 2000 sq ft .
Grade of concrete : M20

Understanding M20 Concrete Mix (1:1.5:3) :

M20 grade concrete is a commonly used mix, prepared in the ratio of 1:1.5:3 (cement : sand : aggregate).

In which

In which 1 part cement
1. 5 part sand
3 part aggregate

Slab Volume Calculation (2000 sq ft, 6-inch thickness):

To find the volume of concrete, we multiply the length, width, and height of the slab and get the volume of concrete.

Length: 66’8″
Width: 30’0″
Height / Thickness: 6″
Volume = 66’8″x 30’0″x 6″ =1000 cubic feet

Volume (cubic meter) = 1000 × 0.0283168 = 28.3168 m³

Dry volume = wet volume × 1.54 = 28.3168 × 1.54 = 43.6079 m³

Volume as per M20 (1:1.5:3)= 43.6079 m³

Total parts = 1 + 1.5 + 3 = 5.5 parts

Cement Requirement for 2000 sq ft Slab:

Cement volume =  43.6079 × (1/5.5) = 7.9287 m³

Since 1440 kg of cement is required in 1 cubic meter, hence the quantity of cement is 7.9287 x 1440 = 11,417.328 kg.
50 kg of cement is required per bag
Hence the quantity of cement in a bag: 11,417.328/50 = 228.346 bags
Say About 230 bags of cement will be required for casting 2000 slabs.

Sand Requirement for 2000 sq ft Slab :

Sand volume = 43.6079 × (1.5/5.5) = 11.8931 m³

Volume of sand in cubic feet 420 cubic feet

Aggregate Requirement for 2000 sq ft Slab :

Aggregate volume =  43.6079 × (3/5.5) = 23.7861 m³

Volume of aggregate in cubic feet : 839.99

say 840 cubic feet aggregate required for slab casting of 2000 square feet  area

Steel Bars (Reinforcement) Requirement for 2000 sq ft Slab :

10mm bars will be used in the slab which will be placed at a distance of 5 inches

Total length of bars 2,926.82 meters

Weight of bars = 2,926.82x 0.617= 1,805.84 kg to 1810 kg

5% will be added for overlap, i.e. about 90 kg

Thus, the total quantity of bars required for casting a 2000 sq. ft. slab will be 1900 kg i.e. 19 quintals

Binding Wire Requirement for 2000 sq ft Slab :

The binding wire used to tie the rods generally requires 1 kg of binding wire to extend 1 quintal of bars.
So, to extend 19 quintal of bars, 19 to 20 kg of binding wire will be required.

2000 sq ft Slab Material and Cost Estimate :

Cement Cost Estimate :

The rate of cement per bag is taken as Rs 500 in this estimate. Hence the total cost of cement is 230 x 500 = Rs 115,000.

Cement Cost: 115,000 Rs.

Sand  Cost Estimate:

The rate of sand keeps changing due to change of place, transportation etc., hence we will consider the maximum rate of sand prevailing in the market, which is Rs. 93 per cubic foot.
Hence, the total cost of sand: 420 x 93 = Rs. 39,060.

Sand Cost : 39060 Rs.

Aggregate Cost Estimate:

The rate of aggregate also depends on the plant and transportation etc.
We consider the maximum rate of aggregate to be Rs 85 per cubic foot.
So cost of aggregate: 840 x 85 = Rs 71,400.

Aggregate Cost : 71,400 Rs.

Steel Reinforcement (TMT Bars) Cost Estimate

The steel bars are of standard Tata type which are priced at Rs 81 per kg.
So, cost of Reinforcement Steel Bars is
1900 x 81 = Rs 153,900.
Binding Wire cost is Rs 130 per kg.
20 x 130 = Rs 2600.

Steel Reinforcement (TMT Bars) Cost : 156,500 Rs.

2000 sq ft Slab Material and Cost Estimate

1. Cement Cost

  • Qty = 230 bags

  • Rate = Rs 500 / bag

  • Total = Rs 115,000

2. Sand Cost

  • Qty = 420 cu.ft

  • Rate = Rs 93 / cu.ft

  • Total = Rs 39,060

3. Aggregate Cost

  • Qty = 840 cu.ft

  • Rate = Rs 85 / cu.ft

  • Total = Rs 71,400

4. Steel Reinforcement (TMT Bars) Cost

  • Qty = 1900 kg

  • Rate = Rs 81 / kg

  • Total = Rs 153,900

5. Binding Wire Cost

  • Qty = 20 kg

  • Rate = Rs 130 / kg

  • Total = Rs 2,600

2000 sq ft Slab Material and Cost Estimate | Cement, Sand & Aggregate

Cement + Sand + Aggregate + Steel + Binding Wire
= 115,000 + 39,060 + 71,400 + 153,900 + 2,600
Total = Rs 381,960 Rs.

Beam Requirement for 2000 sq ft Slab:

For this slab, the beam is given of 9 inches.
The surface area of the beam is 295.69 sq ft which is 14.78 percent of the slab or it can be considered as 15 percent i.e. the area of the beam is 15 percent of the area of the ceiling

Beam Volume Calculation :

To find the volume of the beam, multiply the surface area of the beam by the depth of the beam. The total volume of the beam in cubic feet is 295.69 X . 75 = 221.76 cubic feet. 6.279 cubic meters. Multiplying by the dry volume factor 1.54 gives 9.669 cubic meters.

Hence, the total volume of the beam in cubic meters is 9.669 cubic meters.

Cement Requirement for Beam :

Cement Volume = (1 / 5.5) × 9.669 = 1.757 m³

Cement in Bags

Cement density = 1440 kg/m³

Cement weight = 1.757 × 1440 = 2,531 kg

Bags = 2531 ÷ 50 = 50.6 bags Say 51 bags

Sand Requirement for Beam :

Sand Volume = (1.5 / 5.5) × 9.669 = 2.635 m³

Aggregate Requirement for Beam :

Aggregate Volume = (3 / 5.5) × 9.669 = 5.277 m³

Steel Bars (Reinforcement) Requirement for Beam :

If 6 reinforcement bars of 16 mm are inserted in the beam, then the total length required will be 760 m.
So the amount of reinforcement steel is 760 x 1.58 = 1,200.8 kg.
Or we can also call it 1200 kg.

Binding Wire Requirement for Beam :

12 quintals of beam will require 12 kg of binding wire to extend the reinforcement steel

Beam Cost Estimation (Volume = 9.669 m³)

  • 51 bags × ₹500 = ₹25,500

Sand

  • 93.05 cu.ft × ₹93 = ₹8,654
